Former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Brad Haddin and former Australian captain Mark Taylor were guests on the new episode of sports commentator’s show The Willow Talk. In the episode, they talked about many things related to the game. In the show, Mark Taylor was asked about his most memorable one-liner till date, to which he replied by mentioning the conversation that took place on the field between legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne and former South African all-rounder Brian McMillan. Taylor told how Shane Warne trembled with fear on the field due to a threat from McMillan.

During the fourth innings of the third Test of the 1993-94 series between Australia and South Africa, the African team was chasing a target of 321 runs to win the series and Australia needed to bowl them out to save a draw. There was a tense atmosphere in the field, especially with McMillan at the crease and only a few wickets remaining. Shane Warne was struggling to get McMillan out.

Mark Taylor, while talking about the conversation between Shane Warne and Brian McMillan, said that Warne had told McMillan about his upcoming delivery before bowling. But even then McMillan failed to face most of Warne’s balls. Then, after a few overs, McMillan had strengthened his grip and Warne kept bowling to him.

McMillan then walked up to the pitch in his imposing style and threatened Shane Warne. McMillan’s actions scared Warne a lot. McMillan told Warne, “Hey Warnie! Too many people die every day in South Africa, one more won’t make a difference.” Hearing this revelation from Mark Taylor, the entire podcast panel including Alyssa Healy started laughing.

Mark Taylor was fielding nearby during that match, he saw that Warne was trembling with fear. Worried, he then went to Warne in the run-up to talk to him. Talking about the match, Shane Warne dismissed Brian McMillan for just 4 runs in 38 balls. After which the Australian team won the match by a huge margin of 191 runs.
