The host team won the toss and batted first and scored 248 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Avishka Fernando scored the highest 96 runs, while debutant Riyan Parag took the maximum 3 wickets for India.

SL vs IND: Sri Lanka scored 41 runs in the powerplay without losing any wicket

Sri Lanka’s performance in the powerplay of the third ODI against India was good. The team scored 41 runs without losing any wicket. Pathum Nissanka scored 19 runs in 34 balls and Avishka Fernando scored 21 runs in 26 balls in the powerplay.

India got its first success in the 20th over

In the third ODI, Indian bowlers had to struggle for a long time to take wickets. Axar Patel gave the team its first success by dismissing Pathum Nissanka on the last ball of the 20th over. Avishka Fernando missed out on scoring a century due to the brilliant bowling of debutant Riyan Parag. Parag gave the team another big success by dismissing Fernando in the 36th over of the innings. Avishka Fernando faced 102 balls and scored 96 runs with the help of 9 fours and 2 sixes.

SL vs IND: The performance of Sri Lanka’s middle order was shameful

Sri Lanka’s middle order batsmen – captain Charith Asalanka (10), Sadeera Samarawickrama (0), and Janith Leyanage (8) – all three batsmen failed to make a respectable score. Charith Asalanka was dismissed by Riyan Parag in the 38th over of the innings. Sadeera Samarawickrama lost his wicket to Mohammad Siraj in the 39th over and Janith Leyanage lost his wicket to Washington Sundar in the 43rd over.

Kusal Mendis played an innings of 59 runs with the help of 4 fours in 81 balls. He lost his wicket against Kuldeep Yadav on the fourth ball of the 49th over of the innings. Kamindu Mendis played an unbeaten innings of 23 runs in 19 balls for the team.

Debutant Riyan Parag performed brilliantly with the ball

Riyan Parag took 3 wickets for 54 runs in a spell of 9 overs against Sri Lanka. Parag dismissed Avishka Fernando, Charith Asalanka and Dunith Welalage. Mohammad Siraj, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar took 1 wicket each.
