India defeated South Africa by 7 runs in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and won the trophy of the magnificent tournament. The match was played on 29 June in Barbados.

South Africa needed 177 runs in 20 overs to win this match. At one point the team was in a very good position and they needed 30 runs in 30 balls. They also had five wickets left. However, the Indian bowlers bowled very well in the last overs and won the match.

Seeing this, many Indian fans felt very happy that South Africa gave them a tough challenge in the final.

Talking about the match, India batted first and scored 176 runs in 20 overs losing 7 wickets. Experienced batsman Virat Kohli played a stormy innings of 76 runs for the team while Akshar Patel contributed 47 runs. Shivam Dubey scored 27 runs. In reply, South Africa could only score 169 runs in 20 overs losing 8 wickets.

For South Africa, Henrik Klaasen played an aggressive innings of 52 runs but he failed to lead his team to victory. Quinton de Kock contributed 39 runs while David Miller scored 21 runs. For India, Hardik Pandya took three wickets for 20 runs in three overs while Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets each. The performance of the Indian team in this match was highly praised by many people. After the end of this match, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja have retired from T20 cricket.
