South Africa’s best wicketkeeper batsman Heinrich Klaasen has decided to retire from Test cricket with immediate effect. Cricket South Africa has issued a press release today i.e. on 8th January in which it has been told that Heinrich Klaasen is going to retire from Test cricket.

Let us tell you, Heinrich Klaasen has played 4 test matches for South Africa and he played the last test for his team against West Indies in the month of March last year. Heinrich Klaasen’s record in the first class has been quite good. Klaasen made his Test debut against India in Ranchi in 2019. He has scored 104 runs in four Test matches at an average of 13, of which 35 is his best score.

Apart from Ranchi, Heinrich Klaasen has played Test matches in Sydney, Centurion and in 2023, Johannesburg. Heinrich Klaasen is one of the most explosive batsmen in limited overs cricket. He has led South Africa to victory in many important matches in ODI and T20 due to his explosive batting.

After retiring from Test cricket, his entire focus will now be on limited overs cricket. Even in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, this excellent batsman had batted very well and scored important runs for his team.

Heinrich Klaasen said, ‘I could not sleep properly in the last few nights and was wondering whether my decision was right or not but now I have decided to retire from Test cricket. It was a very difficult decision because Test has been my favorite format. To reach where I am today as a cricketer, I have faced a lot of battles both on and off the field.

It was a great journey and I am happy that I was able to play for my team in this format as well. My baggy test cap was the most important cap. I would like to thank all the people with whom I played Test cricket and who taught me a lot of new things in this format. I am fully prepared for the challenges to come.
