In the final match of the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 played today i.e. on 28th July, Sri Lanka defeated India by 8 wickets and won the trophy of this great tournament for the first time. All the players from the Sri Lankan women’s team performed very well and played an important role in their team’s victory.
Talking about the match, India batted first and scored 165 runs in 20 overs losing six wickets. Smriti Mandhana scored 60 runs in 47 balls with the help of 10 fours for the team. Apart from Smriti Mandhana, Richa Ghosh contributed 30 runs. Shefali Verma scored 16 runs while Jemimah Rodrigues contributed 29 runs.
For the Sri Lankan women’s team, Kavisha Dilhari took two wickets for 36 runs in four overs. The batsmen of the Indian women’s team played their role quite well.

Sri Lankan women’s team did not have a good start while chasing the target and Vishma Gunaratne was out after scoring one run. After the first wicket fell at seven runs, Sri Lankan team captain Chamari Atapattu and Harshitha Samarawickrama made an important partnership of 87 runs for the second wicket. Both of them did not spare any Indian bowler and attacked everyone strongly.
