Sri Lanka’s men’s cricket team is going to tour England very soon for a three-match Test series. However, before going on this tour, the team has expressed concern over the security situation in England in view of the anti-immigrant riots that broke out in the country.

It is worth noting that a three-match Test series is proposed between Sri Lanka and England from August 21. So when Sri Lanka has raised concerns about security, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has responded to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and the team by assuring them about the security arrangements.

So one of the team players who is currently in the UK, told ESPN Cricinfo – It seems that most of the issues are not close to the level where we are but everyone is still a bit worried about the situation.

We can’t really go out for dinner or anything like that. We mostly stay in the hotel. Nobody wants to get into trouble and get beaten up. We have asked the board to arrange some security for us till the main team arrives, but we haven’t received any response yet.

On the other hand, when Sri Lanka Cricket Team Manager Mahinda Halangoda summoned the ECB regarding security, they responded immediately. Halangoda said- I raised the issue of security with them, but the ECB responded very quickly and sent us their comprehensive security arrangements. We will also have a security liaison with them on the tour.
