Team India’s adventure in the Test format will begin in another month. India will play two Tests against Bangladesh from September 19 and three Tests against New Zealand from October 16 on home ground. After this, Team India will play a long series of five Test matches under the Border Gavaskar Trophy on Australian soil later this year.

After winning the last two Border-Gavaskar series on Kangaroo land, India is entering the ring as a strong contender this time too. It is known that Team India has been winning this trophy continuously since 2016. India has hosted the trophy in 2016/17, 2022/23, Australia in 2018/19, 2020/21. But for the first time since 1992, India will play a five-Test series against Australia. At the same time, the practice match on the Australia tour was reduced to two days.

Sunil Gavaskar is upset with BCCI

India’s legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has objected to this. He said that he is disappointed to hear the news that the warm-up match against Australia’s Prime Minister’s playing 11 before the series has been reduced to two days. He said that due to this the young players will miss out on important training. On the other hand, this will also create a situation where senior players will not go for practice.

But he believes that young players will get more experience from first-class cricket than a two-day practice match. Gavaskar said that the main purpose of the Australia tour is to play cricket and not to relax. Gavaskar also suggested that the BCCI should take steps to extend the practice match to three days and give a chance to young players.

“Australia is thirsty for revenge. If India has to score a hat-trick of series wins on Kangaroo soil, then it will have to be cautious. But there is still time to make the warm-up match three days long. Young players should be given a chance in this practice. This will help the young players to defeat the world test champion Australia.”

Indian team won the four-match series 3-1 Varun Chakravarthy (Photo Source: The South African T20I series has been great for Indian spinner Varun Chakraborty. He has been the highest wicket-taker in the four-match T20 series. And in the post match presentation after the match, he expressed his opinion about the challenges and his contribution during the series. He admitted that the pitch in the last two matches was not ideal for spinners. However, Chakraborty also said that India’s move to go with three spinners in the series was wonderful and it has worked. Apart from this, he also talked about his partnership with leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi. Varun Chakraborty said that the last two matches have been challenging due to small boundaries. Even if a few sixes are hit, one wrong shot can cost us a wicket. We went into the series with three spinners and it worked for us. He said that Bishnoi and I formed a partnership and it worked. The best approach was to stay away from the arc and I bowled some short balls, which really worked for me as well. Samson-Tilak’s record breaking innings Talking about the fourth T20 match, the Indian team won the toss and decided to bat first and thanks to the record breaking innings of Sanju Samson and Tilak Verma, it made a huge score of 283 runs. Samson scored unbeaten 109 runs in 56 balls, while Tilak Verma scored unbeaten 120 runs in just 47 balls. In response, South Africa had a very bad start and the team was all out after scoring 148 runs in 18.2 overs. In this way, the Indian team won this match by 135 runs. With this, the visiting team won the four-match series 3-1.
