Jay Shah is going to take charge from December 1 Jay Shah (Image Credit- Twitter X) Recently, Jay Shah, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, was elected as the new Chairman without any opposition in the Apex Council meeting held in Dubai last month. So now Jay Shah, who has been holding the responsibility in BCCI for five years, is going to take over the post of ICC Chairman from December 1. However, now news is coming that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to extend the current tenure of its new chairman. Earlier the tenure of the Chairman was of two years, which has now been reduced to three years. Earlier any chairman could complete three terms of two years each. But now that the tenure period has increased, any chairman can be elected only for two consecutive terms. But Shah will now remain on this post for two consecutive terms, whose duration will be 3 years each. After this major change in the rules, Jay Shah is going to be seen working on the post of ICC Chairman for six consecutive years. Also, according to the new rules, elected presidents cannot be re-elected in future. Jay Shah will replace the current chairman Greg Barclay in ICC. It is noteworthy that Barkley was selected for the first time in 2020. Since then he has completed 2 terms. There was also a change in the rules of women’s ranking In addition to the change in the tenure of the chairman’s post, the ICC Chief Executives Committee (CEC) has announced changes to the women’s ranking rules. After the new rule, any team will have to play at least 8 matches in ODI and T20 formats every year to get into the ICC rankings. Earlier there was a rule to play 6 matches. IPL auction increases BCCI’s tension, board is not getting venue

IPL mega auction will be organized at the end of November. IPL Auction (Image Source: IPL/BCCI) BCCI is unable to find any good venue to hold the IPL 2025 mega auction. Currently, BCCI is considering holding the IPL auction in Saudi Arabia, but is unable to find an affordable venue for the same. Earlier it was being said that it could be organized in London, but it has been decided to go ahead with this option, because it will be very cold in London at that time. In such a situation, BCCI has limited the options to Riyadh or Jeddah. According to the report of Cricbuzz, BCCI officials have not taken any final decision. A mini auction was held in Dubai last year. This is still an option, but it is not the preferred option for BCCI at the moment. IPL mega auction will be organized at the end of November According to reports, the auction is expected to take place in the last week of November, as current BCCI Secretary Jay Shah is going to take over as ICC Chairman from December 1. Finding a hotel anywhere is not a big issue for the world’s richest cricket board, but the board is not able to take a final decision keeping in mind other stakeholders. Finding a suitable hotel or venue is big for BCCI, as pricing is a key factor among franchise owners. The price of hotels in Saudi Arabia is much higher than in Dubai and this is a big issue for BCCI and team owners. The report read, “BCCI and IPL officials are now looking for a venue where the auction can be held over two days and can accommodate the entire IPL contingent, which will include 10 franchise delegations and two broadcasters – A huge contingent of Jio and Disney stars can join in.”

Byju’s may be in trouble, tribunal accepted BCCI’s plea for dues, know what is the whole matter?

The matter is of outstanding amount of Rs 158 crore Byju’s and BCCI (Image Credit- Twitter X) The troubles of the country’s edtech giant Byju’s are going to increase very soon. Let us tell you that the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has accepted a petition related to the outstanding amount of Rs 158 crore on the company of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). It is worth noting that this dispute dates back to September 2023, when the BCCI filed a petition in the Bengaluru bench of NCLT against Byju’s parent company Think & Learn Pvt Ltd. The Apex Cricket Board has claimed in its petition that the company has made a major default in paying the outstanding sponsorship amount. So the NCLT bench in its order said that Byju had availed the services of BCCI through sponsorship rights and there was clear evidence of the debt owed on it. The tribunal examined the trail of emails between the two parties, which fully defined the amount owed and the state of insolvency. BCCI owes this much amount of crores According to a statement issued by NCLT on the said issue, it has been stated that the general notice was issued to Byju’s via email dated 06.01.2023 and the outstanding sponsorship amount is Rs 158 crores excluding TDS (tax deduction at source), as shown in the outstanding bills. Among these bills, BCCI has shown a total of 12 bills as evidence to the tribunal, in which Indian cricket team players were seen playing wearing jerseys having the company’s logo during foreign tours and series. The first default happened on August 21, 2022, when the BCCI owed 50 per cent of the amount to the company. Despite Byju allowing the BCCI to encash the bank guarantee of Rs 143 crore in January 2023, the outstanding amount still stands at Rs 158.9 crore. Well, now it remains to be seen when Byju is going to pay the dues to BCCI?

IPL 2024: Sanjay Manjrekar raised questions on BCCI’s decision to make the first match of IPL “Dhoni vs Virat”

Sanjay Manjrekar believes that the first match of the upcoming IPL 2024 will be between the superstars of Indian cricket. CSK vs RCB and Sanjay Manjrekar. (Image Source: X) Indian Premier League 2024: Former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar (Sanjay Manjrekar) has expressed disappointment over the schedule of the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) starting from March 22. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on February 22 announced the schedule for the first two weeks of the upcoming IPL 2024. During this period, all ten teams will play 21 matches, in which a franchise will get a minimum of 3 matches and a maximum of 5 matches. However, BCCI has made a change this season, and Sanjay Manjrekar is not happy with it. Sanjay Manjrekar is not happy with CSK vs RCB IPL 2024 opener Actually, the upcoming IPL 2024 will start with the defending champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (rcb), whereas as per tradition it should have been a clash with last season’s runner-up Gujarat Titans (GT). “I think the champions should play the first game and CSK deserves the first game,” Sanjay Manjrekar was quoted as saying by Star Sports. I feel that last year’s finalists Gujarat Titans should have played their first match of this season against CSK and it would have been ideal. But maybe there will be a good reason to make a change this time.” ‘It’s Dhoni vs Virat’ Meanwhile, cricket experts believe that the first match of the upcoming IPL 2024 will be between the superstars of Indian cricket rather than between the CSK and RCB franchises, as both the teams have star-studded lineups. Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Mohammed Siraj, Cameron Green, and Glenn Maxwell are among the biggest names for RCB, while CSK has great players like MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, and Deepak Chahar. Sanjay Manjrekar finally said: “What you are seeing right now is a clash of superstars more than franchises, it is Dhoni vs Virat, right?”
