This decision of the board is being linked to the performance of the players in the T20 World Cup. Earlier, the overall salary of players in Test cricket was increased by 100 percent. At present, the Sri Lankan cricket team is at 7th position in the Test cricket team ranking and 9th in the points table of the World Test Championship (WTC). More clarity on the board’s position regarding players’ salaries According to Cricbuzz reports regarding the match fees of Sri Lankan players, the team will get different match fees if they win, draw or lose the Test match. If the Sri Lankan cricket team wins a match in the Test format, then the match fee which was earlier paid was $7500, but now the players will get a match fee of $15000. So in case the test match is drawn or lost, the amount of match fee will be 12500 dollars and 10000 dollars respectively. On the other hand, regarding match fees and other rewards, Sri Lanka Cricket Board CEO Ashley de Silva said – If a player becomes the best batsman, best bowler, or best all-rounder on the basis of ICC rankings covering all formats, If so, he will be financially rewarded with a lump sum payment.
