The second Women’s FTP will run from May 2025 to April 2029, which is a collective effort of the ICC support members and its aim is to play as many matches as possible in all three international formats. About 400 matches have been confirmed in all three formats. All formats have seen a significant increase compared to the previous year (2022-2025) and according to this FTP the ICC tournament will be played in a six-team tournament each year with the Champions Trophy for the first six teams in 2027. Many people have been eagerly waiting for this important tournament for a long time. Apart from this, other ICC programs are also included like ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in India in 2025, ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2026 and also the 2028 edition of the same tournament. The number of teams participating in the Women’s Championship has increased to 11, which was earlier played between only 10 teams. In the Women’s Championship, all the teams will play 8 series against other teams. This series will be played the same way as it is being played this season, four series at home and four away. A total of 132 ODI matches will be played in 44 series which will include all three matches. This will also ease the way for qualification for the ICC Women’s World Cup and all the teams will get a chance to perform brilliantly. ICC’s General Director of Cricket presented its stand ICC General Manager of Cricket Wasim Khan said, ‘We are all very excited. This new women’s FTP is going to be awesome. All the teams will be seen performing tremendously in this. Zimbabwe has been included as the 11th team. FTP will prove to be very helpful for teams and fans as well. All members are very happy with the upcoming FTP and we are also planning a triangular series in ICC events.
