Seeing no improvement in the health of Indian-origin Ireland cricketer Simi Singh, he was brought to India for better treatment. The bad news is that he is seriously ill and is suffering from ‘acute liver failure’ at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. Simi needs a liver transplant and his wife Agamdeep Kaur will be a liver donor for him. How did Simi Singh’s health deteriorate? For the last few months, Simi Singh was constantly complaining of fever, the exact cause of which could not be ascertained. Despite treatment in Dublin, there was no improvement in her health, after which she was brought to India for better treatment. Simi arrived in India at the end of June and began treatment at the PGI in Chandigarh. She was initially treated for TB, but it later became clear that she did not have TB. In the last week of August, Simi’s health deteriorated further and she developed severe jaundice. Doctors found that she had ‘liver failure’ and she was referred to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. Simi Singh’s treatment and liver transplant procedure, wife will become the donor Doctors have approved Simi Singh’s wife Agamdeep Kaur to donate the liver, and Simi’s liver transplant will be done soon. Since Simi has AB+ blood group, they did not face any problem in finding a donor. Doctors are hopeful that this surgery will be successful and Simi will get a new life. Cricket Career of Simi Singh Simi was born in Mohali, Punjab and successfully represented Punjab at the Under-14 and Under-17 level, but couldn’t make it to the Under-19 level. He packed his bags for Ireland in 2005 to study hotel management. Little did Simi know that cricket would follow him to Ireland as well. In 2006, he joined Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin as a professional player. In 2020, Simi received a central contract from Cricket Ireland, the first full-time contract awarded by the association. 37-year-old Simi Singh has played 35 ODIs and 53 T20 Internationals for Ireland. He has taken 39 wickets in his ODI career, with his best performance being 5/10. He has also shown excellent batting and has also scored an ODI century against South Africa.
