Then the tournaments for Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will be put on hold, these tournaments will be held in T20 and 50 over formats respectively. The second phase of the Ranji Trophy will then begin on January 23, comprising the knock-out stages, and the final is scheduled from February 26 to March 2. There was only a three-day gap between Ranji games but players complained about the busy schedule and the lack of rest. After which the interval between games has been increased from three days to four days for the 2024-25 season. The finalists of the Plate Group will advance to the Elite Group in the next season. Similarly, the bottom two teams in the combined standings of the Elite Group will be relegated to the Plate Circuit next year.
