Ashwin has said that I will be indebted to Dhoni throughout my life for what he has given me. It is noteworthy that before his debut for Team India in 2010, Ashwin was associated with Chennai Super Kings as a local spinner, but due to the presence of a spinner like Muttiah Muralitharan in the team, he did not get a chance to play that season. So, he got a chance to play in the year 2009, but he came into the limelight when Dhoni gave him the first over of the powerplay against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2011 IPL final. After this, Ashwin bowled brilliantly and took the important wicket of Chris Gayle on the fourth ball of the first over. After Ashwin’s amazing performance this season, he was directly included in Team India. Ashwin made his Test debut under the captaincy of Dhoni in Delhi against West Indies. So, due to his brilliant bowling in his very first match, he won the Player of the Match award.
