IND vs NZ: Virat Kohli came to bat at number three after eight years, created an unwanted record
Virat Kohli (Photo Source: Getty Images) The first match of the three-match Test series between India and New Zealand is being played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Team India’s veteran batsman Virat Kohli flopped badly in this match. Virat Kohli was out without opening the account in this match. Virat Kohli came to bat at number three in this match after a long time. After the early dismissal of Team India captain Rohit Sharma, fans had high expectations from Virat Kohli. Everyone believed that today a big innings would be seen from him on his IPL home ground, but after facing 9 balls, Kohli returned to the pavilion without opening the account. This poor form of Virat is becoming a matter of concern for Team India in Test cricket. Virat Kohli batted at number three in place of Shubman Gill. Shubman Gill has not been included in the playing eleven of the Bengaluru Test match. Due to being unfit, he could not play in this match. For this reason, Virat Kohli batted at number three in his place. Virat Kohli batted at number three in Test cricket after eight years. Before this, he last played at number three in 2016. This time when he came to bat at number three, he returned to the pavilion without opening the account on the ball of William O’Rourke. After this flop performance of Virat Kohli, a surprising figure has come to light. Batting at number three in Test matches, he has scored runs at an average of only 16.16 in seven innings. His highest score during this period has been 41 runs. Looking at these figures it is clear that Virat Kohli is not that successful at number three but despite this he was sent to this position in the Bangalore Test match. Virat Kohli was last out on a duck in Test matches against New Zealand. He had returned to the pavilion on zero against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium 32 innings ago and now once again he has been out on a duck against the Kiwi team.

IND vs NZ: Rohit will create history by scoring 258 runs in the series, will become the first Indian batsman to do so
Rohit Sharma (Source X) India is all set to take on New Zealand in the first Test of the three-match series, with the first match to be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru from October 16. Rohit Sharma will lead the team, here their aim will be to win their 18th consecutive series on home ground. Apart from captaining the team, Rohit will also play an important role with the bat. Actually, Indian captain Rohit is on the threshold of achieving a big achievement in this series which no Indian has been able to achieve before him. Rohit Sharma has scored 742 runs in the current World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle. They need to score 258 runs in the three-match series against New Zealand to score 1000 runs in this cycle. Rohit Sharma can become the first Indian captain to do so If he succeeds in doing so, he will become the first Indian batsman to score 1000 thousand or more runs in two consecutive World Test Championship cycles. He last achieved this feat in the WTC 2019-21 cycle, where he scored 1094 runs. Rohit scored two centuries and one half-century in 15 Test innings this year but could score only 497 runs in the remaining 13 innings. Kohli, who is 53 runs away from 9000 Test runs, has not scored even a half-century in six innings this year. He played innings of 46 runs against South Africa and 47 runs against Bangladesh. Rohit Sharma currently has 12 wins as India captain in his WTC career. Virat Kohli is the most successful Indian captain in the history of the tournament with 14 wins. If India whitewashes New Zealand in this series, then Rohit Sharma will overtake Virat in terms of wins in WTC and become India’s most successful captain.
“We want to build bench strength in bowling”- Captain Rohit Sharma told the future plan of Team India.
Due to injury, Mohammed Shami has been away from cricket for several months. Rohit Sharma (Photo Source: When BCCI announced Team India for the three-Test series against New Zealand, four reserve players were included in the squad, which everyone was surprised to see. Three out of those four were fast bowlers. No one understood why three fast bowlers were kept in the team as reserve players. Along with Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav and Prasidh Krishna, Nitish Reddy has also been selected as reserve for the ongoing three-match Test series against New Zealand and they will travel with the team and will also be seen practicing with the players. Now captain Rohit Sharma has given a long term plan regarding this and said that the team has a strong group of batsmen and he wants to create a similar group in fast bowling also. Rohit Sharma gave a big statement regarding traveling reserve players Captain Rohit said in the press conference before the first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru, “There are a lot of options when it comes to batting. We want to do the same in bowling also. We want to build bench strength where if anything happens to anyone tomorrow, we don’t have to worry. The captain further said, “We want to keep Mayank, Harshit and Nitish with us, because we are thinking of taking them to Australia, we want to build bench strength, especially with fast bowlers. We have 8 or 9 options, not just 3 or 4. Like batting, we want more options in bowling also.” “We don’t want to be too dependent on a few players,” he added. It is not right to do this. Looking at the future, we want to try to ensure that we get the right players.” This is why India has fast bowlers Mayank Yadav, Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Prasidh Krishna for the three Test matches against New Zealand. Present as a reserve player for the series. Rohit said, “Tomorrow if we feel that he is ready to play that role (in place of the injured fast bowler) then he should be ready for it. Of course he played some matches before our announcement.
