Batting first, Kolkata Knight Riders scored 272 runs on the board at the loss of 7 wickets. This is the second highest total in IPL history. For a moment it seemed that Kolkata Knight Riders could surpass Sunrisers Hyderabad and post the biggest total in IPL history. But due to the wickets of Rinku Singh and Andre Russell, KKR fell short of creating history. In IPL 2024 itself, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 277 runs against Mumbai Indians, which is the highest total in IPL history. Royal Challengers Bangalore had scored 263 runs against Pune Warriors in 2013, which has now become the third highest total in IPL history.
