Rohit has led Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles, a record equaled by MS Dhoni when he captained Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to victory in the 2023 season. It was Gambhir who led KKR to two wins in the T-20 league in 2012 and 2014. Rohit Sharma had given me sleepless nights. Speaking to Star Sports, Gautam Gambhir said, “The only player who gave me sleepless nights was Chris Gayle, not AB de Villiers but Rohit Sharma. With Rohit, I knew I had to have Plan A, Plan B and maybe even Plan C because if Rohit is in, I don’t think anyone can control him.” Gautam Gambhir told during this time that he used to make plans for Rohit Sharma after watching the video. He also admitted that he had never worked so hard for any other batsman. Even while sleeping at night, Gambhir used to think about getting Rohit out. He further said, “The only batsman I was afraid of in the IPL is Rohit Sharma. I have never planned for any other batsman except Rohit Sharma. There have been times when I’ve seen videos where I’ve said that, largely, Plan A is fine. But with Rohit Sharma, maybe the night before, I thought if it doesn’t work, I have to take it. If it doesn’t work, I’ll have to find another plan.”
