Abdul, playing for Jammu and Kashmir in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, scored his second century of the match against Odisha on Monday. With this, he became the first player from Jammu and Kashmir to score two centuries in the same Ranji Trophy match. Abdul Samad scored 127 runs in 117 balls in the first innings of the match being played at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack. In this innings he hit 9 sixes and 6 fours. Thanks to this innings of Samad, Jammu and Kashmir had scored 270 runs in the first innings. However, in reply Odisha had scored 272 runs. After Jammu and Kashmir team missed the lead in the first innings, Samad batted brilliantly in the second innings also. After the early dismissal of the top order batsmen, Samad scored his second century of the match in just 105 balls. During this he hit 5 fours and 6 sixes. Before this, no batsman from Jammu and Kashmir had scored two centuries in any first class cricket match. Samad scored unbeaten 108 runs in 108 balls and Jammu and Kashmir gave a target of 269 runs to Odisha. Abdul Samad has performed brilliantly so far in first class matches.
