To be honest, there are not many people from our board present in the country and on Thursday (August 8) we have sent a letter to the Army Chief regarding assurances about the security of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup as we have only two months. Iftekhar Ahmed Mithu further said- ICC contacted us two days ago and we replied that we will get back to them soon. Even after the (interim) government is formed today, we have to assure them of security, because it cannot be given by the board or anyone other than the law enforcement agency of the country. Therefore, today we have sent them a letter, and after getting assurance from them (Army Chief), we will inform the ICC.

There is no clarity yet as to whether this ICC tournament will be played fully in Pakistan or in a hybrid model. In fact, due to security concerns, it seems impossible for India to go to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. Meanwhile, keeping in mind the safety of its players in Pakistan, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has also sought a security advisor from its government for the upcoming tour. Let us tell you, Bangladesh has to tour Pakistan this month. Bangladesh has to play a two-match Test series against Pakistan at their home which will be a part of the ICC World Test Championship. Due to the political situation in Pakistan, many teams do not want to go there to play a series. The Bangladesh team will tour Pakistan on 17 August and will play a two-match Test series against the host team. The first match of the series will be played in Rawalpindi (21-25 August) and the second match will be played in Karachi (30 August-3 September). BCB President Jalal Yunus made a big statement before the tour “Look, it is their (Pakistan’s) job to provide security and we went there because they assured us of state-level security and the tour was planned after their assurance. I think you must have seen in the Asia Cup that the Bangladesh team went to Pakistan and they provided us state-level security and we agreed to go on this tour because they assured us of that,” BCB cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus told reporters on Wednesday. He further said, “You must have seen in recent times that some international teams have also visited (Pakistan) and they are quite happy with the security provided. We are also very concerned about security but after knowing everything and getting assurance from them about security, we have decided to tour. Also, we have requested the government to provide us a security advisor during the tour who will keep communicating with them all the time about security issues.”

Zee accuses Star India of violating terms of ICC TV deal, seeks return of Rs 68.54 crore

ZEEL demanded a huge refund of Rs 68.54 crore saying there was a breach of the agreement and the same was rejected. ICC (Image Credit- Twitter X) Zee Entertainment Enterprises (ZEEL) is embroiled in a legal battle with Star India (Disney Star) over the television broadcast rights of ICC cricket matches in India. In fact, in August 2022, ZEEL had entered into an agreement with Star India to sub-license the TV broadcast rights of ICC Men’s and U19 international fixtures. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd has alleged that Star India failed to uphold the agreement citing default in obtaining necessary approvals from the International Cricket Council (ICC) and did not execute the required documents and adhere to the agreed terms. ZEEL demanded a huge refund of Rs 68.54 crore saying there was a breach of the agreement and the same was rejected. The financial implications of the dispute are significant. Zee Entertainment Enterprises has already spent Rs 72.14 crore towards bank guarantee commission and interest expenses. Star India has claimed dues of Rs 1,693.42 crore from ZEEL as rights fees and an additional Rs 17 crore towards deposited interest. However, Zee Entertainment Enterprise argued that due to violation and non-compliance of rules by Star India, the sub-license has become invalid. ZEE made a big claim Despite Star’s claims, ZEEL has denied all this and has asserted its strong and legitimate grounds to defend any claims. In response, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited not only canceled the car but also demanded a refund of Rs 68.54 crore. Actually, the viewership of Indian fans in ICC events was very high and there is a difference of opinion between the two parties regarding this. Now it remains to be seen what will be the decision in the end?
