“As a batsman, I know that I can live up to my standards…”- Hitman on his performance in IPL 2024

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ended their season in IPL 2024 with an 18-run win against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday. Batting first in the match, Lucknow scored 214 runs and restricted Mumbai to 196 runs to get an easy win, but the margin of victory was not big enough to reach the top 4. Their tournament journey ended with a group-stage exit. After this match, Rohit Sharma (68* runs) talked about the T20 World Cup team and his IPL 2024 performance in a special conversation with JioCinema on Match Center Live. Rohit Sharma said, “We thought a lot about the team that we ultimately selected for the World Cup. Spinner, seamer, batsman and keeper, we knew before the IPL who we would choose for the World Cup. IPL performance can be up and down for everyone. So we didn’t focus too much on that. We needed to look at the performance of some players, but it was important for us to give clarity to everyone as to whether everyone going into the IPL will participate in the team and what their roles will be so that they can practice and play accordingly. So that we can, we had shared all these hints with 70% of the team before the IPL.” Rohit Sharma spoke on performance in IPL 2024 Regarding his performance during IPL 2024, Sharma said- “As a batsman, I know that I have not been able to perform as per my standard. But, after playing for so many years, I know that if I think too much, I will not be able to play well.” I just try to stay in a good mindset, stay in the right zone, keep practicing and work on all the flaws in my game. Our season didn’t go according to plan, we blame ourselves for that because we made a lot of mistakes during the season. We lost a lot of matches which we should have won, but it is the nature of the IPL that you get some opportunities and when those opportunities come, you have to grab them.”
