The Tamil Nadu state government has announced to build the country’s largest cricket stadium in Coimbatore. This is the second international cricket stadium in Tamil Nadu after Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, which is the home ground of five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings. Let us tell you, Chepauk Stadium is also the second oldest stadium in the country.

The Chief Minister had made the announcement during the parliamentary elections

The announcement to build a stadium in Coimbatore was made by Chief Minister MK Stalin during the parliamentary elections. State Industries Minister TRB Raja and Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development Udhayanidhi Stalin have been at the forefront of this project. They have worked hard to promote local talent and raise the sporting profile of Tamil Nadu.

While sharing a special post on social media, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu wrote,

We will strive to establish a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in Coimbatore, with the active participation of the sports loving people of Coimbatore. The stadium aims to become Tamil Nadu’s second international-standard cricket venue after the iconic MAC Stadium in Chennai. Our government and Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin are committed to enhancing talent and sports infrastructure in Tamil Nadu.

These facilities will be in the new stadium

The new cricket stadium to be built in Tamil Nadu will have many facilities including VIP and corporate facilities, players lounge, a media center, public cafeteria, restaurant, gallery, cricket museum, etc. Apart from this, there will also be indoor practice areas, specialist fielding zones and high-performance centers.

Let us tell you, this stadium will be built keeping in mind the famous stadiums like Lord’s Cricket Ground in London as well as MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
