Before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the franchises have announced their retained players. Lucknow Super Giants has also released the list of its retained players. However, the name of Afghanistan’s fast bowler Naveen Ul Haq is not there in it.

Lucknow Super Giants have retained uncapped Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badoni along with Nicholas Pooran, Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi. Now Naveen Ul Haq has posted a post on social media on not being retained and expressed his gratitude to LSG.

The Afghan pacer wrote, Grateful for this opportunity and to be a part of this amazing team for the last 2 seasons. My best wishes will always be with everyone involved in this team, management staff and people working behind the scenes in the future and I will not forget the LSG Brigade. Thank you all. Let us tell you that Naveen-ul-Haq played 18 matches for LSG in two seasons, in which he took 25 wickets at an economy of 9.16.

Franchise released KL Rahul

Lucknow Super Giants have taken many big decisions before the mega auction, one of which is not to retain captain KL Rahul. The franchise has released KL Rahul from the squad, under whose leadership LSG made it to the playoffs for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. However, the 2024 season was disappointing.

LSG’s top retention was Nicholas Pooran and it is expected that he will be the captain of the Lucknow franchise in the upcoming season. Last season, Lucknow was eliminated before the knockout. Out of 14 matches, it won seven and lost seven. She stood seventh with 14 points. She could not reach the playoffs due to net run rate.
