India captain Rohit Sharma and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief selector Ajit Agarkar addressed a press conference on Thursday, May 2. This press conference was regarding the T-20 World Cup for which the board had recently announced the team. The selectors have appointed Hardik Pandya as the vice-captain for this World Cup, about which there is a lot of talk.
Let us tell you that Pandya was named as the vice-captain of the Indian team during the World Cup 2023. After the all-rounder’s disappointing performance as captain and batsman in the current IPL, it was being said that someone else could be appointed as vice-captain in place of Pandya. Agarkar addressed the issue and said that he has confidence in Pandya’s ability.

He also said that as a player, Pandya has many aspects which make things easy for any captain. Agarkar said, “There was no talk about the vice-captaincy. He has played all the matches for Mumbai Indians so far. We have to play the first match only after a month and a few days.
If he is fit, there is no substitute for what he can do. Agarkar Said that he is making a comeback after a long time from injury. We hope he is working on it. He can give a lot of options and balance to Rohit when bowling. Hardik has recovered from an ankle injury before the IPL. There is a lot of anger among the fans over making him the captain of Mumbai in place of Rohit.
Hardik, who was struggling with poor form in the IPL as the captain of Mumbai Indians, has surprised the cricket world by being made the vice-captain of the T20 World Cup team. Pandya played his last match for India in the ODI World Cup in October 2023 against Bangladesh.
