In the first test match played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, New Zealand defeated India by 8 wickets. The visiting team achieved the target of 107 runs by losing two wickets in just 27.4 overs. After bowling out Team India for just 46 runs in the first innings, the Kiwis took a huge lead by scoring 402 runs.

However, the host team showed struggle in the second innings and scored 462 runs. After this, New Zealand once again dominated and defeated India on home soil and took a 1-0 lead in the series. After the spectacular victory against India, New Zealand has made these three big records.

3. New Zealand registered its first Test win in India in the 21st century

New Zealand has registered its first Test win against India in the 21st century after a historic win on Day 5 in Bengaluru. Before this, the last time the Kiwi team had defeated India was in 1988 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Black Caps’ only win in India came in 1969 and since 1988 they have not won a single Test against India in India.

2. Joint fourth largest lead of any visiting team against India in India

The New Zealand team maintained pressure from the beginning in the first Test and maintained it till the end. In the first innings, the Kiwi bowlers were all out for just 46 runs. After the bowlers, the batsmen also showed tremendous performance. They scored 402 runs and took a huge lead of 356 runs.

With this they registered the joint fourth biggest win by a visiting team against India in India. In 1948, West Indies had the highest lead of 490 runs against India in Kolkata.

1. Visiting team chasing 100+ score in India after 24 years

After taking a lead of 356 runs in the first innings, New Zealand restricted India to 462 runs in the second innings. Due to which the Kiwi team got the target of 107 runs. After losing the first two wickets of Tom Latham and Devon Conway, Will Young (48*) and Rachin Ravindra Jadeja (39*) led the team to victory.

This is the first time in 24 years that a visiting team successfully chased 100 or more runs against India in India. The last time this happened was in 2000, when South Africa achieved the target of 164 runs at the Wankhede Stadium.
