Mizoram’s star batsman Agni Chopra has created a sensation with his batting. He has scored his second consecutive double century in the Plate League of Ranji Trophy. Let us tell you that Agni is the son of film producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and he played an inning of 218 runs in 269 balls in the first innings against Manipur.

This season, Agni Chopra is looking in great form and has shown tremendous batting performance so far. He had scored 110 and not out 238 in Mizoram’s last match against Arunachal Pradesh in Ahmedabad earlier in the season. Mizoram won that match by 267 runs.

Let us tell you that Chopra has earlier played for Mumbai at Under-19 and Under-23 level. This young player was advised by his coach Khushpreet Singh to play for another team, so that he could get more time on the field, because he was not getting selected in the senior teams of Mumbai. So Agni Chopra went to Mizoram and after that he created a stir in first class cricket.

Scored centuries in the first four first class matches

Chopra scored 105, 101, 114, 10, 164, 15, 166 and 92 in his first four Ranji matches. In this way he became the first batsman to score a century in his first four first class matches. Which even greats like Don Bradman could not achieve. These scores of his have come against bowlers in the Plate League. Let us tell you that the top 32 teams in the domestic circuit play in four groups of the Elite League, six other teams, five of which are from the North-East region, are included in the Plate League.

Earlier, Chopra had told PTI last season, people will say what they have to say, but ultimately, it is your performance and there are many players who are playing in the same division and are not scoring as many runs. The standard is same for everyone.

He further said, I think I am trying to stay in the present and my aim is to take Mizoram to the elite division. If we are in the elite division, there is nothing to think about in terms of bowling quality and I will play for Mizoram.
