According to former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar, Virat Kohli should have remained the captain for some more time in Tests.

According to former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar, Virat Kohli should have remained the captain for a little longer in Tests. Let us tell you, in September 2021, Virat Kohli resigned from the post of captaincy of T20. Not only this, shortly after this, he withdrew his name from the post of captaincy of all formats of India.
Speaking on The Rao Podcast, Sanjay Bangar said, ‘My personal belief is that Virat Kohli should have spent a little more time as Test captain. He should have captained India in a few more Test matches. I believe he had taken a decision on this matter long ago.’

Virat Kohli captained the Indian team in 68 Tests, out of which the team won 40 and their winning percentage was 58.82. Not only this, under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, the Indian fast bowlers also bowled lethally and maintained their pressure on the batsmen of the opposing team. Under his captaincy, the team confirmed its place in the final of the World Test Championship 2021.
In 2022, Sourav Ganguly was the President of BCCI and he had said that the board had appealed to Kohli to captain the T20 team. He also said that Kohli had rejected this appeal and the selectors are not fully ready for two different captains for white ball cricket. However, later Virat Kohli made a big revelation about this.
Virat Kohli had said, ‘Whatever was told that we had taken this decision together was not correct. When I decided to step down from the captaincy of the T20 team, I first went to the BCCI. I told them the reason behind it. I was not told at all that I have to step down from the post of T20 captaincy. I was completely sure about this. At that time I had also said that I can also captain the ODI and Test team, but the officials felt that I cannot take this responsibility. I had told my side and left the decision to them.’
