India is going to face England in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup.
Rahul Dravid, one of the greatest cricketers of all time, has never won the Cricket World Cup. India was joint winner of the Champions Trophy 2002 with Sri Lanka, while India lost the 2003 World Cup final against Australia.
Apart from this, the 2007 Cricket World Cup under Dravid’s captaincy was even more disastrous, the team was eliminated from the group stage itself. However, in 2011, the Indian team won the ICC Cricket World Cup, but Dravid could not make it to that team.
So in the year 2012, he retired from cricket, but after that he was seen playing IPL for a few years. Although, he did not get much success as a player, but when he took over the coaching of India’s Under 19 team, he got a lot of success, during this time some players also made it to the senior team.
After this, when he took over the coaching of India’s senior team, he did not get the same success as the Under 19 team. Under Dravid’s coaching, the Indian team reached the semi-finals in the T20 World Cup 2022. At the same time, Team India was considered a strong contender to win the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 held in India, but India had to face defeat at the hands of Australia in the final.
So now Dravid’s coaching career is going to end after the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. In such a situation, keeping this in mind, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has requested Team India that they should win the World Cup to honor Dravid.
Virender Sehwag made a special appeal to Team India
Let us tell you that in a discussion with Cricbuzz before India’s second semi-final match against England in the ongoing T20 World Cup, Virender Sehwag said- We played the 2011 World Cup for Sachin Tendulkar. So this T20 World Cup can be for Rahul Dravid. At least as a coach he should get a chance to win a World Cup and be called a World Cup winner, which he did not get as a player.
