Bangladesh wicketkeeper batsman Anamul Haque is one of those who is affected by the current situation in his country. Haque has lost a friend due to the ongoing violence in the country.

Anamul Haque is scheduled to captain Bangladesh A in the four-day matches against Pakistan Shaheen in Islamabad. Before leaving for the tour on Friday (August 9), Anamul made a statement about the death of his close friend while addressing reporters at the Sher-e Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Anamul Haque said while talking,

I think you might have heard that a friend, who was like a brother to me, died in the protests. We were very close. I get emotional when I think about him. I wish this tragedy and trauma does not happen to anyone. I was in Chattogram, so I could not reach my family in Dhaka. Everyone has been affected by this tragedy in one way or another.

Anamul Haque further said,

I was awake from 2-5 in the morning. I was taking care of my child. I went down to see what was happening. I saw a lot of people on the streets guarding their property. I don’t know what these people want. We don’t want to live like this, we want to live in peace. Everyone deserves their fundamental rights.

Bangladesh’s senior cricket team is set to tour Pakistan for a two-match Test series. The first Test match will be played in Rawpindi from August 21. Anamul Haque believes that the tour will act as a boon, promoting unity within the team and among Bangladesh supporters.

Cricket is a place of emotions, it unites us. This tour will really help us, especially the Test tour in Pakistan. There will generally be favorable conditions for batting there. This will give an opportunity to both sides, we will also be playing Tests after a long time. I think we can give everyone something to cheer about.
