In the second qualifier of IPL 2024 played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, May 24, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and decided to bowl first. However, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Sanju Samson and Co. by 36 runs in the match and confirmed their place in the final. Now after the defeat, Sanju Samson has admitted that he suffered due to lack of match awareness.

He also said that the middle-order batsmen could have used the reverse sweep or the depth of the crease against SRH spinners Shahbaz Ahmed and Abhishek Sharma.

After the defeat in Qualifier 2, Sanju Samson said, I think we lacked options in the middle overs against spin and I think that’s where we lost the game. Against left-arm spin, we had three-four right-handed batsmen and the ball was stopping, but we could have tried a little more options. Could have used reverse sweep or the crease a little more. But they also bowled well.

Samson further said, it is actually very difficult to predict. When can we expect dew in Chennai or not. In the second innings, the wicket started behaving differently. The ball started moving a bit. He took advantage of this and bowled spin against right-handed batsmen in the middle overs.

Talking about the match, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 175 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Heinrich Klaasen scored a half-century. In response, Rajasthan Royals could only score 139 runs for 7 wickets and lost by 36 runs.
