Women’s T20 World Cup will be played in UAE in October
South Africa has announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 through social media today on Tuesday, 3 September. It is worth noting that the upcoming multinational tournament will be played in the UAE under the hosting of Bangladesh.
Opener Laura Wolvaardt has been given the command of South Africa’s women’s cricket team in the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup. At the same time, 18-year-old leg-spinner Seshnie Naidu, who has not yet made her debut in international cricket, has also managed to make it to the 15-member team. Apart from this, 20-year-old young fast bowler Ayanda Hlubi, who made her debut for South Africa last year, has also got a place in the team.
Both these players were part of the South African cricket team in the Under 19 World Cup held in South Africa last year. So now both of them are looking forward to performing together for the Proteas team on the big stage.
Also, in the team that South Africa has selected for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup, most of the players are those who reached the final of the T20 World Cup 2023. However, Lara Goodall, Masabata Klaas and Delmi Tucker have not been included in the team, while veteran fast bowler Shamnim Ismail retired from the game last year, due to which she is not a part of this team.
