WPL 2024, GUJ-W vs MUM-W: The third match of the Women’s Premier League 2024 was played between Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians. Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur had decided to bowl first after winning the toss. Batting first, Gujarat Giants team could score only 126 runs at the loss of 9 wickets. Mumbai Indians chased the target with 11 balls remaining and won by 5 wickets.

WPL 2024: Shabnim-Amelia bowled lethally

Gujarat Giants team was seen struggling against Mumbai Indians. Shabnim Ismail sent Veda Krishnamurthy to the pavilion for a duck in the very first over. After which Shabnim dismissed Harleen Deol for 8 runs in the third over. The team had high expectations from Phoebe Litchfield but she became the victim of Nat Siver-Brunt after scoring 7 runs.

Mumbai Indians bowlers did not give Gujarat Giants a single chance to make a comeback. Every strategy of captain Harmanpreet Kaur seemed to be proving correct. Captain Beth Mooney played an inning of 24 runs in 22 balls. Beth Mooney became the victim of Shabnam Ismail in the 11th over.

Tanuja Kanwar played the highest innings for the team of 28 runs in 21 balls with the help of 4 fours. Amelia Kar took the maximum of 4 wickets giving 17 runs in 4 overs. Amelia Kar sent Ashley Gardner (15), Tanuja Kanwar (28), Sneh Rana and Lee Tahuhu to the pavilion for ducks. Shabnim Ismail took 3 wickets.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur played a brilliant innings

Mumbai Indians, chasing the target against Gujarat Giants, suffered initial setbacks early. Yastika Bhatia (7) and Healy Mathews (7) were sent back to the pavilion. Nat Siver Brunt was on her way to a good innings but was run out by Tanuja Kanwar on 22 runs.

Amelia Kar scored 31 runs in 25 balls and lost the wicket against Lee Tahuhu. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur played an unbeaten inning of 46 runs for the team with the help of 5 fours and 1 six in 41 balls and the team won the match. Tanuja Kanwar took maximum 2 wickets for Gujarat Giants. Whereas Katherine Bryce and Lee Tahuhu took 1-1 wicket.
