Trinbago Knight Riders have signed two Indian women cricketers, Jemimah Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey, for the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 for the tournament.
Australia batter Meg Lanning and left-arm spinner Jess Jonason were the two other foreign players to be included in TKR’s squad. Women’s CPL winners Trinbago Knight Riders have retained five of their Caribbean players for the upcoming edition.
Let us tell you that the Women’s CPL will start from August 21 and will run till August 29. Trinbago Knight Riders won the last season and have strengthened their team with international talent to win the upcoming tournament.
Both the players are busy in the series against South Africa
Shikha Pandey and Jemimah Rodrigues are currently in India’s national team for the all-format series against South Africa. Jemimah had hit a blazing half-century against South Africa Women in the first T20I. However, her unbeaten innings of 53 runs went in vain as India suffered a close defeat by 12 runs in this first T20I. The second T20I in Chennai was abandoned due to rain and South Africa are leading the 3-match series 1-0.
BCCI plays an important role in giving the opportunity to play in WCPL-
KKR Group CEO Venky Mysore said in a statement that Rodrigues and Shikha will add to the quality of the tournament. He also thanked the BCCI for allowing them to play in the WCPL for the first time.
