5 Big Records of Shikhar Dhawan: Team India’s explosive opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket on Saturday. He announced his retirement by sharing an emotional video on social media early in the morning of 24 August. Dhawan, popularly known as ‘Gabbar’, was out of the Indian team for a long time. He played his last international match in December 2022. He made his debut in 2010.

The left-handed batsman had a great career. He played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs and 68 T20 International matches. During this time, he made many records to his name. Fastest century on Test debut

Shikhar Dhawan is the fastest batsman to score a century in a debut Test match. He played his first Test in March 2013 and tore apart the Australian bowlers that day. He completed his century in just 85 balls. This is a world record which no one has been able to break even today. He scored a total of 7 centuries in Tests. He was last seen playing in the longest format in 2018.

Most runs in Champions Trophy

‘Gabbar’ has scored a lot of runs in the ICC Champions Trophy. He won the Golden Bat in the 2013 and 2017 Champions Trophy. Dhawan is the highest run scorer for India in the Champions Trophy. He scored 701 runs in just 10 matches, which includes three centuries and three half-centuries. He is third in the overall list. Chris Gayle (791) is at the top. Virat Kohli (11th place) and Sachin Tendulkar (20th place) are far behind in the list. Kohli scored 529 runs in 13 matches while Sachin scored 441 runs in 16 matches.

Century in 100th ODI match

Shikhar Dhawan is the only Indian batsman to score a century in his 100th ODI match. He achieved this feat against South Africa in February 2018. Dhawan then scored 109 runs in 105 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes in Johannesburg. However, Team India had to face defeat by five wickets. Even Sachin and Virat could not make this record in their name.

Most innings in the nervous nineties

Dhawan is second in the list of Indian players who have played innings of 90 plus runs the most number of times in ODIs. He played the nervous nineties innings seven times. He fell victim to nervous nineties six times and remained unbeaten once. Sachin, on the other hand, fell victim to nervous nineties the most number of times not only from India but in the world. He did this 18 times in 463 ODIs. He got out in nervous nineties 17 times and returned unbeaten once.

Highest score in first test

Shikhar Dhawan scored 187 runs in 137 balls in his first Test. He hit 33 fours and two sixes against Australia at Mohali ground. This is the biggest innings played by an Indian in a debut Test. Dhawan’s record has remained intact for 11 years. Yashasvi Jaiswal came close to breaking Dhawan’s record in the debut Test but missed it by 17 runs. He scored 171 runs in 387 balls against West Indies in July 2023.
