The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 has started. Fans have geared up for some exciting matches between all the teams. It is worth noting that this time the T20 World Cup is being played under the joint hosting of West Indies and USA. A total of 56 matches will be played at 9 different venues between all the 20 teams involved in the tournament.

Also, with the start of the tournament, the series of wins and losses between the teams will also begin. Some teams will be seen winning in terms of wickets and some teams in terms of runs. 1. Sri Lanka’s 172-run win against Kenya

It is worth noting that the first season of the T20 World Cup was played in the year 2007. The 8th match in Group C of this season was played between Sri Lanka and Kenya. In this match, Sri Lanka achieved the biggest victory in terms of runs in the history of T20 World Cup.

If we give you information about the match, then batting first, Sri Lanka scored a total of 260 runs for the loss of 6 wickets, thanks to Sanath Jayasuriya’s 88 and Mahela Jayawardene’s 65 runs. When Kenya came out to chase this target, it was all out for just 88 runs. A brilliant performance was seen in bowling from Sri Lanka.

2. Scotland lose to South Africa by 130 runs

The second season of the T20 World Cup was played in the year 2009. In this season, South Africa won a big victory against Scotland by 130 runs in match number 5 of Group D. This victory is the second biggest victory in terms of runs in the history of T20 World Cup.

Talking about the match, South Africa, batting first, scored 211 runs at the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. Whereas when Scotland came out to chase this target, they were reduced to just 81 runs in 15.4 overs.

3. Scotland lose to Afghanistan by 130 runs

In the T20 World Cup held in 2021, Scotland once again had to face the second biggest defeat. This time, instead of South Africa, this feat was achieved by the Afghanistan cricket team. The Afghan team achieved a big victory against Scotland by 130 runs on the basis of excellent bowling.

In this match played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Mujeeb Ur Rahman performed brilliantly in bowling for Afghanistan and took 5 wickets for 20 runs in 4 overs. Apart from Mujeeb, Rashid Khan got 4 wickets.

4. England win by 116 runs against Afghanistan

The fourth season of the ICC T20 World Cup was played in Sri Lanka in 2012. This season, England won a big victory against Afghanistan by 116 runs in match number 6 of Group A. This is the fourth biggest victory in terms of runs in the history of the Men’s T20 World Cup.

Talking about the match, England batted first in this match played at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo and scored a total of 196 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. Luke Wright played a match winning unbeaten innings of 99* runs in 55 balls for the English team. In reply to the 197 runs scored by England, the Afghan team was reduced to just 80 runs in 17.2 overs.

5. South Africa wins by 104 runs against Bangladesh

In the last season of the ICC T20 World Cup, South Africa won against Bangladesh by 104 runs. Batting first in this match played at Sydney Cricket Ground, South Africa scored 205 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs.

When Bangladesh came out to chase the target, they were all out for just 101 runs in 16.3 overs. Riley Russo played a brilliant century of 109 runs for South Africa in the match. He was also given the Player of the Match award for this brilliant innings.
