T20 cricket is slowly ruling the cricket world. Every country has domestic T20 leagues and this is because the shorter format is more thrilling and entertaining. Viewers get to see the thrill of a cricket match in just three and a half hours, which makes the shortest format even more attractive for fans.

The impact of T20 cricket is such that many players have retired from ODIs and Tests to focus only on the 20-over format. However, on the other hand, there are players who were able to play only a few T20 matches in their career. Today we will talk about such Indian players whose first T20 match was also their last match.

5 Indian players who have played only one T20 match

1. Dinesh Mongia

Chandigarh-born Dinesh Mongia played his only T20I match for India against South Africa in 2006. He played 57 ODIs and scored 38 runs in his T20I debut batting at No. 3. He faced 45 balls and helped India get close to the target of 127 runs before getting dismissed by Robin Peterson.

However, Mongia was not selected for the 2007 T20 World Cup and his IPL career did not last long. This ended his T20 international career after just one match.

2. Murali Karthik

Murali Kartik played his only T20 match against Australia in 2007. He made his place in the team by performing brilliantly in the domestic series. In his debut T20 match, he gave 27 runs in 4 overs, but could not take any wicket.

India won that match, but Karthik could not make a comeback in the T20 team. Later he continued his career as a cricket expert and commentator. Murali Karthik also played for 4 IPL franchises during his career.

3. Karan Sharma

Karn Sharma played his only T20 match against England in 2014. He was included in the national team after performing brilliantly for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. In his debut match, he took the important wicket of Joe Root by giving 28 runs in 4 overs.

However, India lost that match by 3 runs and Karn Sharma never got a chance in the T20 team again. Currently, Karn’s leg spin has not been as effective, which has reduced his chances of returning to the Indian team.

4. Rahul Dravid

Rahul Dravid, famously known as ‘The Wall’ of the Indian team, played his first and only T20 match in 2012. This match was against England, in which Rahul was included in the team due to injured players.

Rahul Dravid silenced his critics by scoring 31 runs in this match and hitting three consecutive sixes. Despite his innings played at a strike rate of 147.61, India lost the match. Dravid’s T20 career ended after this one match.

5. Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar, who is called the God of Cricket, also played only one T20 match in his career. He made his T20 debut against South Africa in 2006, where he scored 10 runs off 12 balls and also took one wicket.

Sachin decided not to play in the 2007 T20 World Cup team so that young players could get a chance. Due to this, he did not get a chance to play in T20 International again. However, Sachin played for Mumbai Indians in the IPL and performed brilliantly there.
