Wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan, who is out of the Indian team, has praised the character of Hardik Pandya.
After months of criticism and trolling, India vice-captain Hardik Pandya has finally regained his lost dignity and respect. Pandya, who played a key role in India’s T20 World Cup win in Barbados last week, has been the target of fans during IPL 2024.
When Mumbai Indians removed Rohit Sharma and made Hardik Pandya the captain, the fans were furious. This had a direct impact on the performance of Hardik and Mumbai Indians. The team was at the last position in the points table. Wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan, who is out of the Indian team, has praised Hardik’s character.
‘I will never forget Hardik’s words’- Ishan Kishan
Some fans were also unhappy with Hardik’s inclusion in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup, but Hardik was a match winner for India in the final and was excellent throughout the tournament. Now Ishan Kishan told the Indian Express-
“I knew Hardik was saving himself for the World Cup. I can’t forget his words. ‘Ek baar performance aaye jaye fir jo aaj gaali de rhe hain wahi taalai baalenge.’ He said this even when I was going through a tough time. We will give our 100 percent in the game we love.”
‘It’s hard to put into words what his life has been like in the last six months’ – Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan also revealed that the India vice-captain never complained about the fans’ behaviour towards him. He said-
‘The last 6 months have been very difficult for him. Many things were said about him but he never lost his temper. I have spent a lot of time with him whether it was training in Vadodara or playing together in the IPL. I never heard him say why is this happening to me. I remember during the IPL he had said, ‘Why think about what is not in your hands. People are saying why they are saying, they cannot control everything. Those who are criticizing me today will celebrate in the future.’
