ACB announces schedule of Afghanistan cricket team’s tour of Sri Lanka and home series against Ireland


Afghanistan team will play three T20I matches against India this month.

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on 8 JanuaryAfghanistan Cricket Team) announced the schedule of the upcoming all-format tour of Sri Lanka and the home series against Ireland in February–March.

The Afghanistan cricket team will first tour Sri Lanka from February 2 to 21 for one Test, three ODIs and three T20I matches and then host Ireland for the same number of matches in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from February 28 to March 18.

ACB Chairman Mr Mirwais Ashraf said in an official release: “The inclusion of these three ODI matches is an important step towards ensuring a complete tour that will not only provide Afghanistan cricket with an opportunity to perform well, but also It will also promote stronger relations between the two countries. It is always difficult to play against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka, but this is a challenge which Afghanistan can easily accept.”

Meanwhile, ACB CEO Mr. Naseeb Khan said: “The year 2024 is a very busy and exciting year for the Afghanistan team, which is a very good and positive sign for Afghanistan cricket. The upcoming tour of India and Sri Lanka and then the home series against Ireland will help us prepare the team for the very important T20 World Cup 2024.”
