Hasmatullah Shahidi will be seen captaining the Afghanistan team in this only Test against New Zealand due to the injury of Rashid Khan.
Afghanistan Cricket has announced its 16-member squad for the one-off Test against New Zealand to be played in Greater Noida from September 9. Due to the injury of veteran spinner Rashid Khan, Hasmatullah Shahidi will be seen captaining the Afghanistan team in this one-off Test against New Zealand.
Let us tell you, Afghanistan is going to play a Test match against New Zealand for the first time. Their performance was very good in the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and the team secured its place in the semi-finals of this important tournament. However, Afghanistan had to face defeat against South Africa in the semi-finals.
Afghanistan has included many excellent players in its team for the only Test against New Zealand. Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmat Shah will be seen performing brilliantly in the upcoming Test match. However, experienced all-rounder Gulbadin Naib has not been included in this Test team. Azmatullah Omarzai will be fully prepared to leave his mark in the Test match against New Zealand. He can be seen making his international Test debut for Afghanistan in this Test.
Afghanistan has played 9 Test matches so far, out of which they have won 3 while the team has lost 6. They have lost in the last three Tests. However, Afghanistan would definitely want to win this one-off Test against New Zealand. Even though Rashid Khan is not participating in this one-off Test, Afghanistan has included many excellent spinners in their team.
