Experienced wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul has said that he has to play for the Indian team in international cricket and he is not at all concerned about the order in which he wants to bat.

For the last few years, KL Rahul has been playing as a middle order wicketkeeper batsman in ODIs. In the recently concluded Test series against South Africa, KL Rahul kept wickets for the Indian team and batted in the middle order. During a conversation with Star Sports, when Irfan Pathan asked KL Rahul whether he would play in the middle order in T20 also, the Indian player expressed his views.

KL Rahul said, ‘Whatever role the team asks me to play, I will tell them that I have to stay only in the XI. I have to play matches. I have missed many important matches due to injury. But now I am completely desperate to give a tremendous performance. Currently I am 31 years old and I have been playing for my team since I was 22 years old.

However, when it comes to matches, I have not played much. I had to wait for my turn because at that time Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan were playing and then Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Bhai in ODI cricket.

I have missed a lot of cricket: KL Rahul

KL Rahul further said, ‘This is the reason why I had to wait a long time for my opportunity to come. I have played a lot of cricket matches but this time I want to play more and more matches. I have to perform well for my country and come to the middle order and enjoy my cricket.

KL Rahul has so far performed very well for the Indian team in the middle order. Now it remains to be seen whether KL Rahul will be seen in the role in T20 World Cup 2024?
