West Indies faced a clean sweep in the three-match Test series against England
West Indies faced a clean sweep in the three-match Test series against England. After losing the first two Test matches, they also lost the third Test match being played at Edgbaston on Sunday. However, despite this, coach Andre Kohli is very positive and said that there were many positive things to learn from this tour.
Kohli said about the series against England, with an emerging team, a lot would have been said about its walkover. Obviously we should have performed better, but we showed a lot of fight during the series. From a batting point of view, I was quite happy with our scoring rate, pace, especially in the second Test.
You don’t get great performances every day – Andre Collie
He further said that, as far as the bowlers are concerned, the English conditions have greatly influenced the young attack in terms of correcting their line-length and handling crowd pressure. These were the important positives that we have learned from this series, as we now move on to the series with South Africa.
Andre Collie said, “You’re not going to have great performances every day. But one thing you can really have some control over is going through your processes every day and giving yourself the best chance to perform.”
The first test against South Africa will begin on August 7.
Now the West Indies team will play a two-Test match series against South Africa from next week. In the meantime, the team has only a few days off left. The first Test against South Africa will be played in Port of Spain on 7 August and the second Test will be played in Guyana from 15-19 August.
Let us tell you that the West Indies team has won only two of the last 11 Test matches. And after losing the two-match Test series to India, the Caribbean team is going to play on home ground for the first time in more than a year.
