Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shahzad has decided not to play in the domestic cricket tournament Champions Cup. He has blamed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for this and has made serious allegations against the board like bias, false promises and injustice.

Apart from this, he has also criticized the new mentorship scheme launched recently by PCB, under which former Pakistani players Waqar Younis, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik, Saqlain Mushtaq and Sarfraz Ahmed will be seen working with five different teams for 3 years. This scheme will cost 5 million dollars, but Shahzad believes that after the inflation and poverty in the country, this decision of PCB is just a waste of money.

Let us tell you that recently Ahmed Shahzad has given information about not playing in Pakistan’s domestic tournament Champions Cup through a post from his official X account. In this post, Shahzad wrote – With a heavy heart, I have decided not to play in the domestic cricket Champions Cup. PCB’s bias, false promises and injustice towards domestic players are unacceptable.

At a time when Pakistan is struggling with inflation, poverty and massive electricity bills, the PCB is wasting Rs5 million on consultants only to do nothing and reward the unsuccessful players in the current squad who have brought Pakistan cricket to an all time low.

It is even more insulting that the PCB claims they do not have ‘equipment for surgery’, which is a huge insult to the domestic players. As a Pakistani and a true cricket lover, I cannot support a system in which merit has no value. I refuse to be a part of this failed setup.

On the other hand, if I give you information about the cricket career of 32-year-old Shahzad, he has played 13 Tests, 81 ODIs and 59 T20 matches for Pakistan, in which he has scored 982 Test, 2605 ODI and 1471 T20 runs. He has been out of the Pakistani team since 2019.
