Aiden Markram looked very happy after reaching the final
On the other hand, South Africa captain Aiden Markram looked very happy after reaching the World Cup final for the first time. Aiden Markram said after the match, “It feels good. Not only the captain takes you here, but the efforts of the entire team are also very big. There are many people behind the scenes too. It is fortunate to lose the toss, we would have batted too.
We played the ball really well, put the ball in the right areas and kept it very simple. The bowlers did a fantastic job for us. It was challenging to bat, no batsman would lie and tell you it was easy. We had a bit of luck and then we had a few partnerships. We have had some close matches and some people at home would have woken up with grey hair early. Glad to have had a bit more rest today.”
On South Africa playing the World Cup final for the first time, Markram said that we have not got such an opportunity before. There is nothing to be afraid of. Markram further said, “This is another step for us, this is an opportunity that we have never got before, there is nothing to be afraid of. This victory means a lot, we have some world class players in our team but as I said, it takes the whole team to perform like this.”
Let us tell you that South Africa has been playing ODIs since 1992 and T20 World Cup since 2007. In the last 32 years, the team has reached the semi-finals 8 times in which this is their first victory.
