India is being heavily criticized from all sides after being whitewashed 3-0 in the Test series at home against New Zealand after 24 years. Head coach Gautam Gambhir is also the target of fans. Meanwhile, former Indian leg spinner Anil Kumble has lashed out at the Indian batsmen.
After losing the first two Test matches, the Indian team was expected to perform well in the Mumbai Test. However, the poor batting of Indian batsmen continued in the third Test also. Chasing the target of 147 runs, Team India was limited to 121 runs and lost the match by 25 runs. Speaking on Jio Cinema, Anil Kumble said that the Indian batsmen took the pitch to heart and hence such a poor performance.
Kumble said, I think the pitch troubled the Indian batsmen. Barring a partnership in the second innings in Bengaluru, the top order could not bat in a single session throughout the series. There are a lot of questions that need to be asked and how can you come out of this.

He said that New Zealand is the team which has had a really good journey when it comes to India. Everyone has something to say for New Zealand. But this was a series in which he dominated. Yes, of course the win was by just 25 runs, but the way they handled the pitches, the conditions, the bowling, you have to give credit.
Talking about the match, India scored 263 runs while batting after bowling out New Zealand for 235 runs in the first innings. After this, New Zealand scored 174 runs in its second innings and India got the target of 147 runs, which it could not achieve. For New Zealand, Ajaz Patel took 11 wickets in the match and won the Player of the Match award.
