Asia Cup 2025: Big news, India will host Asia Cup 2025 after 34 years, read full details


Important information related to Asia Cup 2025 has come to light. India will host Asia Cup 2025 before the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Asia Cup 2025: Last year, the Indian team led by Rohit Sharma won the Asia Cup by defeating Sri Lanka in the final. Now important information related to Asia Cup 2025 has come to light. India will host Asia Cup 2025 before the 2026 T20 World Cup. The special thing is that this tournament will be in T20 format.

Although the dates have not been finalised yet, sources have indicated that it could be held sometime in September after the monsoon season ends in the country. Bangladesh will then host the Asia Cup 2027. The tournament will be held in the ODI format.

India will host Asia Cup 2025

According to reports, India will host the 2025 Men’s Asia Cup. This tournament will be played in T20 format. 6 teams will participate in it. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and the sixth team will be decided from the qualifying round.

The 2023 Asia Cup was hosted by Pakistan. At that time Team India did not visit Pakistan, so the tournament was held in a hybrid format. Now Pakistan will also host the Champions Trophy, but it is not yet decided whether India will visit Pakistan. This is likely to happen in the hybrid model of the tournament.

As per the IEOI document released by Asia Cricket Council-

India will host the men’s Asia Cup in 2025, which will be in the T20 format. Bangladesh will host the 2027 Asia Cup. The 2027 Asia Cup will be held in the one-day format.

Both these tournaments will be held before the 2026 T20 World Cup and the 2027 ODI World Cup respectively. Both these editions will have 13-13 league matches. The document states that all this information including the schedule, date, format and venue can also be changed by the Asian Cricket Council.

History of Asia Cup

The Asia Cup started in 1984. 16 editions of this tournament have been played so far. But India has hosted the Asia Cup only once. India hosted the 1990/91 Asia Cup, when India won the tournament. In such a situation, the 2025 Asia Cup will be very special. This tournament will be held in India after 34 years.

Team India is the most successful team in this tournament. India has won the Asia Cup 8 times so far. Sri Lanka is second on this list with 6 titles. Pakistan team has won the Asia Cup only twice.
