AUS v WI: Australian team announced for ODI series, Maxwell and Richardson left out

Australia team is on West Indies tour these days. Currently a test series is being played between the two teams. Meanwhile, Cricket Australia has announced the team for the upcoming ODI series against West Indies. Australia has made two changes in its squad for this ODI series. Glenn Maxwell and Jhay Richardson are out of this ODI series. In their place, two uncapped players have been included in the squad.

For the first time in this squad, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Xavier Bartlett have got a place in the international team after performing well in the Big Bash League. This ODI series between Australia and West Indies will start from 2 February. Steve Smith will captain the 13-member Australian team in this series.

Glenn Maxwell and Jhay Richardson out of ODI series

According to Cricket Australia, Maxwell has been ‘managed’ by Australia after the BBL season with Melbourne Stars, but is expected to be part of the T20 series against the West Indies from February 9. While playing for Perth Scorchers last month, Richardson suffered an injury on his left side, due to which he has not been selected for this series.

Steve Smith will be the captain in this series against West Indies, while Travis Head has been given the responsibility of vice-captain, who played an important role in Australia winning the World Cup 2023 title. Senior bowlers like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood have been rested from this series.
