A strange situation was seen during Australia vs Pakistan second test.
Pakistan’s tour of Australia 2-23-24, AUS vs PAK, Australia and Pakistan are currently facing each other in the second match of the ongoing three-match Test series at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MSG) in Melbourne.
A strange situation was seen during the Australia vs Pakistan second test, when Steve Smith and David Warner had to wait for the ball unnecessarily on the field. Actually, the match could not start after the lunch break on the third day of the Boxing Day Test currently being played between Australia and Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MSG), the reason for which is very ridiculous.
Delay in start of play on the third day of AUS vs PAK second test
Australian batsmen David Warner and Steve Smith returned to the field after the lunch break on 28 December at the scheduled time of 1.25 pm for the start of the second session. But on-field umpires Michael Gough and Joel Wilson did not allow the match to start, and informed the players that the start of the match was being delayed due to a strange reason.
Actually, third umpire Richard Illingworth was stuck in the lift and could not return to the grandstand in time, due to which the match started late. Amidst the confusion, on-air commentators revealed that Richard Illingworth had become stuck in the lift after eating his lunch during the break after the first session.
After a few minutes, fourth umpire Phil Gillespie ran from the boundary to the third umpire’s box to restart play and then Illingworth returned to the grandstand and the match was restarted. Due to this incident the match started late by seven minutes.
