AUS vs WI 2024: West Indies cricket team is currently on Australia tour for all format series. A three-match ODI series is being played here between the two teams. So after winning the first ODI by 8 wickets, now the second ODI match between the two teams will be played on 4 February at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

However, the Australian cricket team has made major changes in its team for this match. Let us tell you that due to workload, fast bowler Xavier Barlett has been rested for this match. Bartlett took 4 wickets in the first ODI against West Indies.

It is noteworthy that the 25-year-old bowler’s performance was excellent in the recently concluded Big Bash League, after which he has received a call for the national team. However, now Cricket Australia is managing his workload so that he can be used in the T20 World Cup to be held in June this year.

So, he will again be seen playing for Australia in the third ODI match. Bartlett will be seen replacing experienced bowler Josh Hazlewood in the second ODI. Also, regarding his injury earlier this year, Bartlett quoted ESPN Cricinfo as saying –

I got injured earlier this year and didn’t get a chance to play domestic cricket, which was a disappointing time. But you can see the light at the end of the tunnel and you just have to keep trying to work hard, because that doesn’t happen very often in the game of cricket.

Travis Head released from the team

Apart from Xavier Bartlett, the team’s experienced batsman Travis Head has been released not only from the second ODI but also from the T20 series along with the third ODI. Now he will be seen playing in the Test series against New Zealand before IPL 2024. So as a replacement for Head, young player Jake Fraser-McGurk may get a chance to play in the second ODI match against West Indies.
