Ahead of the much-awaited tour against India, Bangladesh announced its 16-member squad for the two-match Test series on Thursday, 12 September morning. Senior players like Nazmul Hussain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim have got a place in this team. At the same time, young players like Naim Hasan and Nahid Rana have also got a place in this team. Bangladesh will reach India on 15 September and the first match of the series will be played in Chennai from 19 September.
On the other hand, hosts India are expected to reach Chennai by Thursday evening, and thus they will get at least three extra days in Chennai to get accustomed to the conditions. India had already announced their 15-member squad a day after the first round of the Duleep Trophy ended. Bangladesh’s squad for the tour was confirmed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) through a social media release.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has included an uncapped batsman in the team, while Shariful Islam is out due to injury. The board has included Zaker Ali in the Test team for the first time. Bangladesh recently whitewashed Pakistan in the two-match Test series. In such a situation, the team’s morale will be high and this is the reason why the team will come to India with a pace battery.
The first Test match between India and Bangladesh will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from September 19. The second match will be played at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur from September 27. After this, a three-match T20 series will be played between the two countries.
