BBL Draft 2024: Hobart Hurricanes sign Shai Hope, Ferguson-Rutherford joins Sydney Thunder

BBL Draft 2024: The upcoming season of the Big Bash League will be played from December 31. The process of players draft for the season is going on on Sunday (September 1). The last season was very disappointing for Sydney Thunder, the team finished last in the points table. Before the upcoming season, the franchise has added players like Lockie Ferguson, Sam Billings and Sherfane Rutherford to the team. Let us give you all the updates of BBL Draft 2024.

Ferguson and Rutherford will play Big Bash League for the first time

New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson and West Indies’ Sherfane Rutherford are going to play in the Big Bash League for the first time. Lockie Ferguson has played in many cricket leagues around the world, including MLC, The Hundred, Vitality Blast and IPL. Ferguson has taken 61 wickets in 42 T20 matches for New Zealand at an economy of 7.15.

Talking about Sherfane Rutherford, he has played 143 T20 matches in his career and has scored 2371 runs at a strike rate of 134.33. Rutherford is also capable of performing brilliantly with the ball.

BBL Draft 2024: Defending champions Brisbane Heat sign Paul Walter

Brisbane Heat has signed England all-rounder Paul Walter. Walter’s performance in The Hundred was not very special. He scored 86 runs in 8 matches and took only three wickets at an economy of 10.24. At the same time, Brisbane announced Colin Munro as a pre-signed player.

Sydney Sixers signs Jafer Chohan

Sydney Sixers have signed Jaffer Chohan in the Big Bash League draft. The English cricketer does not have much experience, and has not even played in The Hundred. The franchise has also retained James Vince and had already signed Akeal Hosein.

Hobart Hurricanes sign Shai Hope

Hobart Hurricanes signed West Indies player Shai Hope. Hope was seen playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, where he scored 183 runs in 9 matches. He is currently playing for Guyana Amazon Warriors in the CPL. The franchise has also signed Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hussain.
