Former head coach of the Indian cricket team, Ravi Shastri, will be presented with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.
BCCI Awards 2024: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is going to organize the annual awards ceremony, which has been named Naman, on January 23 in Hyderabad. The grand event took place before the start of the first Test match between India and England on January 25 at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad. BCCI organizes this award ceremony every four years. The last event was held in 2020, which was disrupted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The event aims to honor cricketers for their outstanding performance, perseverance and achievements over the last three years. During this time, the England cricket team led by Ben Stokes is also expected to participate. The English team reached Hyderabad on Sunday before the Test series.
Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to the former head coach of the team
Former head coach of the Indian cricket team, Ravi Shastri, will be presented with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. Along with this, cricketing legends like Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Syed Kirmani and Kris Srikkanth will receive the CK Nayudu Award for their extraordinary contribution to the game.
Other awards include the Polly Umrigar Award, which is expected to be given to the talented Shubman Gill as the Best Men’s Cricketer of the Year 2023. Virat Kohli cannot attend the ceremony, as he has decided to opt out of the first two Tests against England due to personal reasons.
At the last BCCI awards ceremony in January 2020, Jasprit Bumrah and Poonam Yadav received the Polly Umrigar Award in the men’s and women’s categories respectively.
