In recent times, BCCI has been continuously working to improve domestic cricket.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a very important step to improve the structure of domestic cricket. Let us tell you that in the recently held Apex Council meeting of BCCI, a three-member committee has been formed to improve domestic cricket.
The three members of the committee include former veteran Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Ajit Agarkar. It is noteworthy that Dravid is currently working as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. Agarkar is currently the Chairman of Selectors of BCCI, while Laxman is working as the Chief of the National Cricket Academy.
That’s why this committee was formed
If sources are to be believed, the primary function of this committee is to provide recommendations and suggestions to increase the quality and competitiveness of India’s domestic cricket tournaments. So, according to the kind of experience these three former players have, they are the most suitable people for this role.
After the formation of this committee, a senior BCCI source was quoted by Times of India as saying – For some time now, many issues have come to light regarding the conduct of men’s domestic cricket. The main problem in this was that due to bad weather and rain in December-January last year, most of the matches of North India were canceled or reduced. Suggestions have been sought from Dravid, Laxman and Agarkar for improvement in men’s domestic cricket.
Also, let us tell you that BCCI has constituted another two-member committee which includes Treasurer Ashish Shelar and Deputy Secretary Devjit Saikia. This committee will be seen making efforts to bring the union territory Daman and Diu into the cricket ecosystem of the country.
